Mutual Responsibilities

The Local Congregation Can Expect The Evangelist To Do The Following:

"...preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." --11 Tim.4:1,2

"Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers." --11 Tim.2:14

"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth." --11 Tim.2:25

"And the things which thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." --11 Tim.2:2

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." --1 Tim.4:16

"For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee." --Titus 1:5

The Congregations Responsibilities To The Local Evangelist:

"Do you not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel." --1 Cor.9:13,14

"brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample." --Phil.3:17

"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds." --Col.4:2,3

"I commend unto you Phoebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: that ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also." --Rom.16:1,2

"I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) that ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth." --1 Cor.16:15,16

(NOTE: This passage should be understood in light of Eph.5:21. No more, or less, should be concluded. In other words, this passage DOES NOT give authority to the local evangelist to "rule" the local congregation.)

"And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it." --Col.4:17

"...they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searching the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." --Acts 17:11

"submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God." --Eph.5:21

"A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another...by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." --Jn.13:34,35

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men." --1 Thess.5:14

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." --Gal.6:1
